Nanny McPhee website analysis

The website is overflowing with the colour blue which allows it to appear calm, but the sparkles that go around the title and around the sides of the site gives it a magical vibe, we are also able to see snap shots of parts of the film to allow the site to seem more friendly. The site itself is made to to look very simple and doesn't have much happening, you are able to see the trailer on the homepage which promotes the film even more. It promotes the film as a "family movie" encouraging parents to buy it and watch it with their children.

Super 8 Trailer analysis

The first image captured in the Super 8 trailer gives us a sense of era through the use of the old fashioned cars, the kid riding a bike and the way the buildings looks, this mise-en-scene already shows you that the film is set in a different era. The opening starts with non-diegetic sounds which allows the film to seem a little magical which allows you to feel a sense of childhood as this music is normally associated with fantasy which typically relates to children. We are also able to see era through the use of the camera that the kids are using to conduct the movie they are making as it is really old fashioned, also when we see the footage they found being played back we are able to see the film role on the projector showing that it is set in the olden days. The use of the old train running on the train track also shows  a sense of era as we don't see trains like that nowadays and the explosion and the diegetic booming sounds allow the scene to feel very real and thrilling, yet because we see the camera has dropped but is still running we know that there is a mystery to be found out. The camera shots range from long shots to close ups allowing the trailer to at first emit a slow pace, the editing with the lights dimming and the next scene appearing allows an ominous feel to be added to trailer which makes the audience feel curious and we know that the kids will find out the truth.  Also the dim lighting makes everything seem real yet dangerous. All narratives follow Propps theory of the eight spheres of action with the young boys being the hero, the girl the princess, the friends the helpers etc.
